I thoroughly enjoyed Freakonomics, and their current forum on music has me interested. Read for your own enlightenment.
I can’t tell if I a being suckered by a marketing campaign or not, but I like what I hear here in these videos from Ryan Bingham. Something in me wants to think this is a total creation, with the grainy video and the testimonials, but the music sounds good, nonetheless.
the New York Times, who I have long linked to, recently opened their archives and made all their content previously protected by TimesSelect available to all, for free. This includes 150 years of coverage, which makes for some interesting article finds, including Lincoln’s Assassination and Custer’s Last Stand.

Today my friends in Homer Hiccolm and the Rocketboys played at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, after winning the Dell Lounge Sound and the Jury contest. This is most excellent, as I am eagerly awaiting their new EP, Sing Bird Sing. More impressive than this performance are the videos they created to inspire people to vote. I laughed pretty hard. if there is one thing i am excited about in September it is this. Anyone who has seen Ken Burns’ documentaries on the civil war, jazz, or baseball knows what he has in store for his take on WWII. oh yeah, i’m also excited about TUF6, UFC 76, the new Steve Earle, and Bulldog football.

sorry about the lack of posts, I was out all weekend playing some shows with my friend Owen Temple. On Thursday, we played the legendary Gruene Hall, pictured below.
