Microsoft has a new ad that is getting a lot of attention.
The punchline: Microsoft Windows laptops are cheaper than Macs.
I think the ad is odd and misguided:
1 - Instead of building a better OS and suite of products they focus on price. They should be a bit embarrasessed they don’t have an answer to iLife (iphoto, itunes, imovie, idvd, .mac, etc). Focus on products not price.

Counting Crows may not be the huge sellers they were a decade ago, but they are exactly the sort of band whose sales have traditionally offset the risk (and losses) from new artists.
This is a good move for them, but I hope it is well executed decision, unlike the decision to launch a tour of minor league baseball parks with Live and Collective Soul a few summers back....

This is especially interesting to me after watching this phenomenon in Abilene, TX. A city that has no shortage of land, the town has ghost buildings all over the place. The old “standard” Wal-Mart closed down and was replaced by a Super Wal-Mart less than a mile away. The old building still stands, and I really am not sure if they have any plans to do anything with it.

I’m starting to think Twitter might be destructive for a few reasons.
1. The illusion that it makes people closer. Sure, maybe you can talk to your friends more often, with the comfortable emotional veil of a text message, but does it really make you closer? Do you feel any closer to Barack Obama or U2 or Bruce Springsteen now that you are following them?
