Good read, I am a sucker for oral histories. Interesting how so much of the current cable landscape was dictated by ESPN’s deals with cable operators in the late 70’s. Full of stuff you already know, like the fact that Berman and Olbermann are terrible human beings.
Love the story behind the genesis of “This is SportsCenter”: Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann’s 11pm show grew to be the highest rated version, so they started calling it “The Big Show”, which angered Bob Ley and Robin Roberts on the 6p show. In a rage, production ordered them to say “This is SportsCenter” and nothing else, so they cheekily followed it to the letter of the law and it became the tagline the show still uses today.

Never read a Stephen King book before, but this was totally engrossing. I am a bit of a JFK conspiracy theorist, but even still, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. His greatest achievement in this book is how normal he makes a time warp seem. Very Murakami-esque.

If you aren’t familiar with Ray Dalio and his eccentric management style, read these two articles. Very intriguing that he pulls this off.
